A self-employed permit may only be issued in connection with the exercise of a liberal profession or as a consultant. For professional activities that do not fall within this framework, the residence permit investor meets his needs.
A deposit of US$35,000 (or its equivalent in the currency of your choice), must be deposited in a bank account in Mauritius before filing with the EDB* (formerly BOI). After the deposit, you will be free to use these funds as you wish (purchase of a car, villa rental, …).
The commercial activity must generate an annual income of more than 600 000 Mauritian rupees (about 15 000 €) during the first 2 years and 1 200 000 Mauritian rupees (about 30 000 €) from the third year onwards.
Note that this is a turnover to be achieved and not a profit. At the end of the 3 years of the permit and if the objectives have been achieved, the permit will be renewed after study of your file for a new period of 3 years.
As with all residence permits, this permit is issued to the person who requests it. It gives the right to applications for dependent residence permits for spouses, partners and children.
